The 2022 Chita Rivera Awards Are Announced; Here is the Full List of Winners
Charlotte d’Amboise and Bianca Marroquín were in attendance, hosting the June 20 ceremony of the 4th annual Chita Rivera Awards at NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts. The ceremony celebrates dance and recognizes the excellence of the choreographer. Paradise Square, MJ The Musical, The Wrong Man, and Funny Girl were big winners, with Bill T. Jones, Garrett Coleman, and Jason Oremus winning for their choreographic work on Broadway’s new musical Paradise Square. It was Josh Prince, choreographer for the new musical, Trevor that took home the prize for his work on the Off-Broadway show.
Myles Frost and Jared Grimes tied for Outstanding Male Dancer in a Broadway Show, for their work in MJ The Musical and Funny Girl respectively, with the cast of for colored girls who have considered suicide/ when the rainbow is enuf winning Oustanding Ensemble in a Broadway Show. Winning the award for Outstanding Female Dancer in a Broadway Show, it was Tendayl Kuumba who plays the Lady in Brown from that same show that took home the prize.
